Forgive Yourself

We all make mistakes – mistakes that we regret, mistakes that haunt us, and mistakes that are tough to let go. And forgiving ourselves can be difficult. Not only are we subject to the criticism of others, we’re inclined to judge ourselves. Guilt caused David to cry out, "I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me" (Psalm 51:3, New American Standard Bible). But, the Bible offers an encouraging message: Colossians 2:13-14 tells us that God "forgave all our sins. He canceled the debt, which listed all the rules we failed to follow. He took away that record with its rules and nailed it to the cross" (New Century Version). Although it might be difficult, release your guilt. Don’t allow it to keep you separated from God’s promises. After all, if you don’t believe that you deserve God’s best, how can you receive it with unwavering faith? Therefore, live your life with the highest level of confidence. You are worthy, because Christ’s blood made you worthy. Jesus expunged every negative record (Romans 8:38-39). So hold your head up – and forgive yourself.
